Just like the saying goes: time flies when you’re having fun!! We are having fun and not sure where the time has gone. We are missing our friends and family for sure!. We have settled in to the routine of travel and living as traveling nomads. We feel comfortable with the language and the people and love the many food choices in a larger city. We are back in the hustle of a big city, Barcelona. It was a 5 hour train from Seville. One week to explore, see the city, go to the beach and learn about the city’s rich history.

Sagrada Familia was definitely a highlight to see in this city. It is the largest unfinished Basilica in the world! Every angle has amazing architecture and stories all around the church. Its construction started in the 1800’s and was mostly designed by a famous artist, Antoni Gaudi. You can see his architectural influence all over the city including a beautiful park (Park Guell). Our tour guide informed us the completion of the church is set for 2026 and it will be the tallest church in the world at 560 ft.

We loved walking and exploring this city, especially the gothic quarter for its rich history and architecture. The Mercat de la Boqueria was another favorite. . .fresh food market with seafood, fresh fruits and so many beautiful colors!

I’m thankful for changed plans and being open to opportunities to meet new people! God’s plan is ALWAYS bigger and better than ours. We started out with plans for lunch at the market, however, when we arrived, the market was closed. We stumbled into a small tapas restaurant and Jason happens to ask a man seated what he ordered (obviously it looked delicious). The man and his wife were from Australia and they love to travel and have been to Italy several times, as well as Bali (one of the stops on our journey). Our lunch turned into engaging in wonderful conversation, enjoying listening to the Aussie accent, and sharing travel stories and making connections for friends in Bali and Australia!! The man’s name is Johnny 🙂 On this journey, we learn to ask questions, get local recommendations, and don’t be afraid to engage in conversations because you never know who you will meet along the way. Food and travel are how we connect.

Zachary is doing great! He found is favorite flavor of gelato is Straciatella and is sampling from every city. He definitely misses his friends from Stopher.
Mari took some “me time” and visited an amazing spa, Aire Barcelona. Roman baths, soaking pools, hot tub, sauna, steam room and a massage!! Wow!
We took a day trip to a beach town 30 min train from Barcelona. Sitges, Spain was one of our favorite getaways in Barcelona! Beach, sun, and a change of pace.

Next stop. . .a few days in London!
