The packing/unpacking/repacking, the whole house estate sale, the house closing, final Dr appointments, etc. . .the last few weeks could not have been more stressful nor time-consuming. Finishing out the school year, saying goodbye to family, friends, and co-workers and closing this chapter on life as we have known it for the past 11 years. It does not seem real to be taking this journey.
My husband has been amazing and the reason we are able to do this adventure! Although he would humbly say we have been a great team :). The to-do lists have seemed endless, the daily reminders chiming on his phone along with him handing me post-its to make my lists along with the emails and phone calls have been enough make anyone lose their mind! I have been unsubscribing and replying STOP to as many texts and emails as possible so that I do not have to wake up and swipe to delete the 50+ emails that are no longer relevant. I do not need constant reminders of the chaos of our old life.
My new life will be waking up with the sunshine, taking as much time as I want to do prayer and meditation and asking God to put people in our life today that we can bless and they can see Him through us. The interruptions that so often take our attention away from each other and what is truly important will be so minimal that they will be barely noticed in our day.
We are taking this sabbatical/pause/life redirection to take some time to read, reflect, pray and rest, and especially to listen to the still voice of God. I’m not looking for more physical rest or more sleep. I’m looking for more time for the things that give my mind and spirit more life instead of slowly sapping them.
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest”. ~Exodus 33:14
Among all the chaos, there is still some apprehension of our life moving forward. As we closed the door to our house, now clean and empty, a brief thought of “oh gosh, are we doing the right thing?” and “are we crazy?” swirl in my brain. This is when the trusting God part kicks in. . .He goes before us and he will never leave us. I remind myself that we are living the life that we used to pray about. God has answered our prayers and so much more! We are blessed beyond measure… To God be the Glory!
“To Him who is able to do far more than we ask, think, or imagine, to Him be all glory, honor, and praise.” ~Ephesians 3:20-21
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” ~Deuteronomy 31:8
