Hello, We are taking a year of our lives to travel the world and explore our passion. Jason, Mari and Zachary are on this adventure together!
We have been praying about this for 5 years. . .this is not a decision we made overnight! We sold our house in KY, sold all of our possessions and quit our jobs for this new adventure! There are many reasons, however, I will try to break this down into some of what brought us to this journey we are about to embark on.
Jason and Mari are dentists living in KY who love to travel and enjoy new food and cultures. We are at the point in our careers where we are ready for something new and feel that God has been calling us to something greater. Our older children (Taylor and Matthew) moved out of state recently leaving us “empty-nesters”. We were prepared to move when our older children left the house, so that opened a door for us to travel. Covid taught us that remote school and work are possibilities and that was another opportunity to travel.
We have been saving and investing in our “retirement” since we started working. Living within our means and being frugal in our daily living has allowed us to budget for one year of travel. With no house payment, no car payment, no longer accumulating “stuff”, the cost of living is cheaper outside of the US. No more Venti coffees or mega-sized meals! I’ll take an espresso or cappuccino and fresh ingredients with no preservatives in my food any day!
Our dear friend, Johnny passed away in June 2023. He lived life to the fullest, with passion, love for Jesus and his family. He left us way too soon and impressed on us that we never know how much time we have left. Stuff doesn’t matter in the end, what matters are the hearts of people you have touched along the way. You are forever in our hearts Johnny, and we will take you with us in our hearts!
To our friends and family members not joining us on this journey. . .We will gladly take prayers for safe travels and for God’s purpose to be revealed to us in the people with meet along the way. We love you and will miss you, but hope to stay in touch through our stories and photos of our travels.
A great quote: “Our destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things.”
May we use our talents and gifts to touch the hearts of others on our journey! God Bless you!
